8. Penn Cove Shellfish (open Saturday only)

 Penn Cove Shellfish guy productshot1.jpg

Growing and distributing mussels, clams and oysters since the 1970’s, this farm is unique on Island County and is the largest and oldest commercial mussel farm in the US. Tours of the farm involve a boat ride through the 55 acres leased in Penn Cove from the Department of Natural Resources, and will be available at 11am and 1pm. Both tours are currently full, and reservations are closed. Mussels, clams and oysters are available at local restaurants and grocery stores, and if you miss one of the boat tours, drive down Madrona Way to look out over the rafts, and visit our website for a wealth of information and recipes!

Boats leave from the north side of the Coupeville Wharf building. Take Highway 20 to Coupeville. Turn north at the light onto Main Street. Follow Main Street to Front Street, turn left, and at the end is the wharf. Parking is up the hill 2 blocks on the right side of Alexander Street.
